Still only three entries? Must be a record low.

Has the SI soured? Discuss.

It's hard to tell, this is always a low point of the year. The
challenge was indeed that. I didn't have the time, energy or money
to fly down to Australia and get a shot of/at Douglas. :-) I'm
mildly surprised we didn't get a "sour ***" cat picture.

I will not be moderating the SI long if there are only two entries
besides mine.

This news group has declined and many people have left to go to APUG
or just to escape the Annika v. Douglas and/or Rita wars. Many
people got tired of the "Film is Dead!" mantra of a number of
posters here. Where did everybody go? Or why did everybody grow up
and leave? :-)

Two motivators:

I enjoyed the Shoot In, and although I didn't join as frequently as I'd have liked, when I did I'd try to do a conscientious "critique" of the entries. When I saw a dozen entries and few or listless comments from participants, I figured if all I wanted to do was post pictures, Flickr, et al., work just fine, and require a lot less work.

Signal-to-noise here is pretty much intolerable. Too many Usenet Poster posts, too few Further-Photography posts. Many very intelligent, perceptive people have succumbed to the easy targets and self-pleasuring opportunities they present; everyone who counts /knows/ who and what are the irritants. Spending so much energy pointing them out, time after time, is not only an irritant in itself, feeding them and increasing their volume, it is deprecatory of other readers' intelligence.

Make it easy on yourself.
