Re: This News Group

I have decided to unsubscribe due to the childish nature of
a lot of the postings.

Usenet isn't something you really 'subscribe' too. It's
a large group of people who come and go and nobody really
notices. There is the occasional 'anyone heard from
whosit?' - that is about the highest recognition you can
aspire to; there is 'oh, you again...' fame but only
'oh, you again's aspire to it.

Threatening to resign will only get you a raspberry
send-off. From me included. Best leave quietly.

I am sure it is only a few people acting in this
manner.

I am quite sure it is the majority ...

but it sure is enough to put me off.

Humanity is like that, isn't it? "Everybody is an
ass but me". And that's the truth. Everyone believes it.

But -

It's not a bad place, as places go. You have to look for
the little group of geeks on the periphery and stick there.
Put _everyone_ else in your kill file at first whiff of
odeur -- don't bother reading any further. But remember
_everyone_ acts like an ass now and then.

If you stick to discussing things to do with 35mm
photography the great unwashed masses will stay out
of your way -- seems they will do anything but post
on-topic.

Every now and then I go through the kill file to remove
names that got into there by accident - there's or mine.

The addresses that are left in the kill file are 99%
of the form
nobody@xxxxxxxxxxx eff@xxxxxx anon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and there are several hundred of them. The subject
list appears to contain the name of every C***anon
ever made - and I use C***anon (it is bad Karma to
utter the name in this newsgroup - just see what
happens).

It's not a good idea to have your real email address
in Usenet posts, unless you like corresponding with
Nigeria or the law firm of Canter and Siegle. Most
people 'mung' it - change it so a human has to edit
the address to used it - see above and below.
