The 105/2.8 Micro-Nikkor offers superb sharpness - an essential
attribute for a macro lens - but is one of he worst lenses I have ever
used for bokeh. The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro is worse still, but I
cannot think of many lenses that are.

At the risk of repeating myself yet again, I highly recommend the
Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Macro, whose bokeh is so good that it makes an
outstanding portrait lens. The Tamron also has excellent sharpness,
though it perhaps cannot quite match the Nikon and Sigma in that
respect.

The Nikon and Sigma lenses are problematic for portraiture despite
being within the "classic" focal length range for portraits.
