Yes. There was a relatively recent study done by somebody here about the

12 years ago when I was wandering around in the rain forests of Tasmania I
came across a fellow living in an old bus, deep in the forest. His diet
was
beer and eggs. He'd get blind rotten drunk on pension day and stay that
way
until a dozen bottles of beer were gone then cook himself a dozen eggs and
repeat the exercise until his grog was gone and then he'd start digging
for
gold again.
He dug for gold when he was sober. Never owned a vehicle and walked
everywhere. Even the 16 miles to town and back once ever two weeks to get
his beer and eggs. He once remarked that beer was easy to carry because
the
further you went, the lighter it got!
The first time I saw him, from about 500 yards away, I thought he was a
teenager. He was 69 and had the body and form of a teenager so I'd say
exercise is the number one thing for a slim form late in life.
My Grandfather said: "You spend half you life abusing your body and the
other half making up for it". He too, looked like a teenager from behind
at
age 78. Having said all that... There is no definitive evidence to suggest
overweight people - as opposed to substantially obese people - have any
more
health problems or shorter life expectancies than slim people who lead the
same lifestyle. Exercise is absolutely the key to longevity.
Douglas
relative importance of weight and exercise. It showed that exercise was much
more important than weight......IOW, it doesn't matter much if you're fat,
as long as you are active enough, you will have a good long life
expectancy.....Of course, this only works as long as you aren't so fat that
you can't move....:^)
