I was actually kind of dissapointed in it because there is very limited scope for alignment of the images. I would like to be able to merge images that were shot hand-held, but this creates much more significant
translation and rotation errors than the CS2 alignment function seems able to deal with. It's disapointment really, because tools like Panotools and Hugin easily handle this type of alignment problem in the context of panorama assembly.

If I was carrying around a tripod and had hours to fiddle with the shot, the chances of me needing or wanting to try to use an HDR process would actually be reduced because I could get a better exposure in the first place -- maybe by waiting for the light to change or using a graduated filter or what have you. It's when I'm travelling light and in a hurry that I want to just bracket a shot and fix it in "the lab", and this is when CS2 HDR merge seems to let me down.

Am am super keen on HDR image handling, as I think decent dynamic range handling with affordable kit is one of the last barriers to digital imaging catching up with the capabilities of 35mm film. I can still routinely get better images from ISO100 film and my Coolscan V than from my D70, but the gap is closing and HDR is part of the puzzle.
