And, by the way, "Olympus" is a mountain, not a goddess...

So you actually figured out how to use the Canon 'system' flash, on your utterly reliable 20D which didn't work when you bought it, did you? I thought you used a no-name Quanta???? something or other flash because the Canon 'system flash' you had wouldn't work reliably on your 20D... Must be a different Skip that posted that one, perhaps?

Your confession you had a dud 20D and your continued defense of the brand, claiming the system isn't broken when your own system is ...is a tiny little bit strange, don't you think?

I don't have a problem with the pictures I took and still take with my sole remaining 20D. I don't have a problem either with the pictures I take with my Nikon D2X. I have a real problem with Canon and their "rush to market at any cost" - usually the customer's - attitude.

I have a substantial problem with a company who advertises a camera as being for "enthusiasts and Professionals alike" and when it doesn't measure up to a Professional's reliability expectation... Squirm out of it by claiming it's not a "real" Professional camera.

My Nikon has shot nearly 2000 frames and it never failed to correctly fill flash. It never failed to meter properly and it has never failed to switch on. That's makes it about 100% more reliable than either of the 20Ds I bought.

The Olympus's have never fired a shot in anger - yet. Soon enough they'll get their baptism of fire when they go on the Santa trail. 400 shots a day is not uncommon. All day every day for 6 weeks. I'll be just as quick to condemn them if they die unexpectedly or fail to light up or don't meter the flash properly. Somehow I don't think that will happen.

The first 20D I bought died in the middle of a Santa shoot. The second one focused 5" past the point of focus. The 580 EX "State of the art" Speedlight works as expected on every other camera but the 20Ds... Yet it was introduced to complete the DSLR "System" you so wrongly claim is not broken.

Come on Skip... Recognize a lemon for what it is. The 20D will go down in Canon's history as the worst camera they ever made... Provided the 5D isn't even more of a lemon.

Of course if you are happy with a new car that won't start when you need to go to work or a lawnmower that spews all it's grass everywhere but in the catcher... Then I suppose accepting a POS like the Canon DSLR "system" would be easy for you.

Have you never worshiped a mountain Skip?
