Yes, it requires effort, just as it does to sleeve, catalog, and store your
film. No free lunch here on either side of the fence. But to compare film in
a fireproof box to files on a hard drive that aren't backed up is simply not
a fair or valid comparison. There's no such thing as indestructible media.
Just ask Tony Spadaro, who lost tons of family photos in a fire. And those
fireproof boxes are good for what, an hour?

FWIW, once the workflow is set up, it only takes about 20 minutes to burn 2
DVDs and to relocate the files on the HD for future use. For me, it's a lot
easier than sleeving, cataloging, and storing film. Plus, with the database
programs that are available for image organization, retrieval is much
easier.
