I don't see anyone spending hours, say weeks or months, converting thousands
of files into new formats. Even if someone figures out how to "batch"
process file conversions, each file would have to be individually checked
for proper conversion (how many BMP to JPG conversions have been cut off?
OK, old technology.)

I still vote for the trusty Slide Film: No conversion needed; a light box,
and a pair of eyes is all that is needed.
