Kodak M583 photo transfer issue/complaint

I bought a Kodak EasyShare M583 digital camera a few weeks ago and I have an
"issue/complaint" about the way in which the pictures and videos get
transferred to my computer.
When I connect the camera to my computer with the charger/adapter cord, the
only option that I have is to install and run Kodak's EasyShare software.
The software is only set up to automatically transfer pictures to my
computer or to sites like Facebook, etc. The problem for me is that it is
all automatic. It either automatically transfers all new pictures and
videos to a pre-designated folder on my computer, or automatically shares
them with a Facebook or other website. There is no way to just plug the
camera in and directly view the photos and videos that are on the camera's
MicroSD/SDHC card and manually select which ones to move to what folders on
my computer, which ones to delete, etc. My previous Kodak camera (V1253)
would allow me to do this, but the M583 will not.
The only other choice that I have with the M583 is to take the MicroSD/SDHC
chip out of the camera and plug it directly into my computer with a USB
adapter. But, the MicroSD/SDHC is really small and difficult to get in and
out of the camera, and I am also concerned that by constantly taking the
chip in and out of the camera I will end up damaging it.
There is one other option. That is to first use the camera itself to
pre-select individual pictures and videos to be transferred either to the
predetermined folder on my computer or to a site like Facebook. I don't
want to have to do that on the camera itself. It is hard to do and it
doesn't let me copy one group of pictures and videos to one folder and
another group to another folder. I want to be able to just plug the camera
into my computer using the cord they supply and then directly access the
pictures and videos on the card and manually move, copy, or delete them.
I have looked at the Kodak support site and it doesn't show any way for me
to do what I want to do -- it's either use their automatic "EasyShare"
software (which I think stinks), or take the chip out each time and plug the
chip into my computer with an adapter. I have also done Google searches on
this issue and I cannot find anything on it or any active forums where this
could be addressed.
Does anyone know of any way to be able to plug my Kodak M583 camera into my
computer with the cord that comes with the camera and bypass using the
automatic "EasyShare" software so I can manually move, copy, or delete
pictures and videos that are on the camera?
