I have the vague impression that there are some digital cameras that
have bluetooth that can communicate with nearby external GPS receivers

I did a search on the DPreview webside for bluetooth gps to see if any
cameras with bluetooth had been reviewed, and it turned up zero hits.
So I'm asking here - what digital cameras have this ability to
communicate with external GPS recievers, and how long has this feature
been around?
What is it called in the industry? Is there any specific term used if a
camera has this feature?
"Geotagging" is the term for attaching map coordinates to a photo. It's a somewhat broader term that more commonly refers to using software on the computer to read GPS logs/tracks and then tag the location data into the photo, but it also covers what you're looking for.
