What is iPhoto?

it's a photo management app that now has face recognition which makes
finding images of people *very* easy.

So does Photoshop Elements. If iPhoto is so great then howcum there's a
demand for Elements on the Mac?

photoshop elements does not have face recognition. it also serves a
different purpose than iphoto, namely extensive editing capabilities.
they both work together and iphoto has the ability to open a photo in
elements (or another application) and track changes.

Windows still runs on the vast majority of desktop computers, and
this is unlikely to change any time soon, no matter how hard the
adepts of other operating systems may wish.

it's *changing*. half of apple's sales are to windows switchers.

Which affects what, .1 percent of the installed base of Windows? And how do
you know that they are all "Windows switchers"? Macs are fairly nice
Windows machines you know.

according to apple, half of the people buying macs are brand new mac
users. i suppose some of them could be linux switchers, but based on
the dominance of windows, it's a fair assessment that nearly all are
windows switchers. and very few people buy a mac just to run windows.
