| The standard world-wide, not just in the USA, for computer wide-screen
| monitors. Don't ask me why 16:10 rather than widescreen TV's 16:9, but
| that's how it is!
That is a ratio that best fits 2 side-by-side A4 or 8.5x11 sheets of paper,
scaled to the monitor size. It also allows viewing a 16:9 video while also
having a timeline or other video editing parameters.
It's a specific feature of the A series of paper sizes that two
upright side by side give the same width-length ratio as one on its
side, and is the same size as the next one up in the series, e.g. two
vertical A4 side by side equal an A3 on its side.
