The closest I found is 1440 x 1024.I recently upgraded to a new computer. It has a wide-screen monitor, and I am running in wide screen mode. My desktop, and most software works fine, but I have a few graphics programs including Photoshop Elements, that are badly distorted. Is there some sort of setting I need to make in Elements to tell it I am in a wide screen mode?
Well, there you got your reason.
In that setting the desktop looks okay, circles are just about circles, etc. The only thing that is way off are my image/graphics applications.
Obvious solution: get a new graphic card that supports the the monitors
resolution. Nothing else will fix the problem.
Other workaround: check the manual if there is a way to change the
native resolution of the monitor to a value that is supported by your
graphic card. Not many monitors have this feature and of course you
won't take full advantage of the new monitor by running it at a lower
resolution.

But this monitor was sold with this computer as a package deal.
I found one problem in that according to the monitor instructions, I should find an option in the graphics card settings to set a mode to "wide screen," but I can find no such option. Possibly if this option were set I would find the correct aspect ratio in the "resolution" setting.
I will be contacting Gateway (both computer and monitor are Gateway) to get this resolved.
