My problem with PTGui is the author has gotten greedy. He came out
with a Pro version that started with features that were of no
interest to someone doing simple panos. But then he started adding
all new features that are useful to everyone to only the Pro version.
For that he wants ? 149!
Simple, vote with your wallet. If you use the program enough, and its
features are worth the money to you, buy the program. Otherwise not.
Good advice.
I feel that buying AutoPano Pro (for example) has been good value for me,
because of the extra facilities and the time it saves me.
I've found that free options (Photoshop [incremental cost of zero],
hugin, AutoStitch, tools bundled with cameras, etc.) are good enough
that I've not needed to spend money on commercial tools.
