I agree that you have a right to expect that a camera (or anything you
buy) lives up to the specifications published. However, many people
expect way too much from what they buy, in disregard for (or ignorance
of) the specifications. As for the 'tinny' aspect, that is one of the
hazards of buying something online, rather than at a store. Some
things just need to be handled before you buy them.

What makes you assume that I didn't buy from a shop? I did, and I ensured that it had a "no quibble refund" policy. At least one aspect of the camera (broken JPEGs) is something I could only test at home. Perhaps I should have said "taken back" rather than "sent back". <G>

The trouble with specifications is that they can sometimes be misleading. For example, one recently hyped (on this newsgroup) small-sensor camera is claiming ISO 10,000. Good luck with that!

Cheers,
David

Yes, 'sent back' did imply that you ordered it, sight unseen. What I don't understand, though, is why you didn't notice the 'tinny' feel when you handled the camera in the store. Broken JPEGs is a rather serious problem, of course.
