Why exclude the feature for the sake of a few lines of code? Spend a

Anyone that takes macro or astro shots will benefit from MLU. The
first D-SLR I bought 3 years ago had this feature and I agree that it
may not be used a lot but those that have used it I am sure would
rather have it than not. On the other hand liveview has limited use
for most, live colour histogram would be far more beneficial, even my
3 1/2 year old Sony V1 has live histogram, digital preview or simply
taking and reviewing a shot will give a similar result to liveview
with none of the drawbacks.
Cheers.

Warren Block already mentioned many reasons why, to which I would add
documentation. I would argue that live-view actually has advantages for
more people than mirror-lock-up. Taking macros, over the head shots,
tripod use etc. etc.

But I see no problem when we have two top-tier and several second-tier
suppliers - you list what features are important to you and draw up a
matrix of cameras and features.

BTW, what quality DSLRs have you seen which cost less than the D40?

Cheers,
David

ROFL, macros??? You joke, right? Tripod, for Dogs sake?

I read an article about liveview last week and have to agree that personally
it does nothing for me that digital preview cannot do with none of the
drawbacks, most people cannot see the DOF differences on a small screen
anyway. How much over the head shooting do you do, perhaps you just need a
wider angle lens so that as long as you are pointing in the general
direction you will be able to crop the shot you want?

Thats what we are doing, arguing. Personally I have been shooting macro for
over 30 years now and have never needed to view what I am shooting on a tiny
little screen, of course as a glasses wearer these days the optical
viewfinder works great for me as long as it has enough diopter adjustment
while many screens are just impossible to see in any sort of sunlight.

All D-SLR's are quality (even the Oly's are good enough), K100Ds has MLU and
spot metering.
