to get a driver, check the Nikon site. If no usb you can buy a card,
check to see what slots are available first. If no luck with the Nikon
driver a card reader should work.
If she is running earlier than win98se, it may be time to think about a
nice shiny new machine to match the the new camera. I've never heard of
a non usb card reader but maybe someone else has.

She can connect to the camera. What she needs is a program to load the
shots into so she can then sort and send to Elements for furthur
processing.
