Re: Fuji Finepix v5.3 for Vista

I have a Fuji camera and when I load the pictures onto my computer the Finepix software selects the folder name and I can add a description to that. For instance, if I select "car pictures" the folder name assigned is "2004_10012carpictures". This is very annoying. Secondly when the pictures are loaded onto the PC they are NOT in the order they were taken. This is also annoying when I am viewing a slide show of my pictures and I want to view them in order, for instance a birthday party.

Do I have to use the Fuji software, or can I use any third party software? What are some good free programs?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the Fuji. However, regardless of whether it assigns a drive letter or not when connected, Vista or Winxp should recognize it and show it in windows explorer. It's likely that it will open the Fuji software you have loaded since that is now the default. If that software isn't loaded you will get the windows camera and scanner dialog. If you want, you can exit all that stuff and just access the photos on the camera much as if you were using a card reader (which is another option). You can then use windows explorer to drag the pics wherever you want.
As far as listing, windows explorer will normally sort by name, but you can sort by anything listed by clicking on column name (filename, date etc.).
If you decide to stay with the Fuji software, you can easily rename files using 'renamemaster' a free download. As far as how to organize photos that's a whole different topic which we all grapple with.
