You seem to have answered your question in a later post.
This type of post occurs fairly frequently and it's important for the poster to make clear what is happening.
If after the card is inserted into a reader, you get a message that indicates the card is not recognized, then there isn't anything you can do with recovery software and your only hope is to appeal to the card vendor. It probably indicates a problem with the built in controller software.
If the card is recognized but you can't pull some or all files, there's a good chance recovery software will help. The one below is free and quite good. This will work even if the card has been formatted.
