Timed image capture (webcam-like) with Canon G2 - timershot doesn't work

I have a Canon G2 sitting idle. I'd like to use it to do timed web
shots that I can serve up for inter-office whiteboard communication.
The image quality of this old camera is approximately 10 times better
than the best webcam I can find. I need resolution, not video.
Canon's remote control software will capture images every 5 seconds
(limited by USB throughput and camera heating), but each image gets a
unique name. That doesn't work, I need to only keep the current image
(it's possible one could create a script/bat file to do a delete/
rename function and I might try that).
Microsoft's XP PowerToy Timershot would be perfect, but it doesn't
recognize this device. I tried both the XP WIA drivers and the Win2K
TWAIN drivers and neither worked.
Any other recommendations?
Thanks,
john
