Nice shots of this phenomenon - actually, its fairly common in my experience
(I have logged far too many miles ...). I think the sun has to be behind
you, as Roger says. I also wonder if its not actually diffraction around the
body of the plane reflecting off the clouds, but I imagine that doesn't
happen with such a big object.

I took these a fortnight ago as I was flying home to Ireland from
Lanzarote. At first I thought it was the window playing tricks on me but
then remembered reading about circular rainbows years ago. What do you
think?
