Consumer Reports is an advertising driven magazine and one never expects to
get accurate information from them.

What makes you think that Consumer Reports distorts it recommendations because it's beholden to advertisers? I've read the magazine over the years. When they first starting reviewing computers and other "hi tech" I thought they were very superficial, but they have improved greatly over the years. There is a review of digital cameras in the current issue which is quite "in depth" considering that it is meant for the general population and not for educated enthusiasts such as ourselves <g>. Still, I never trust any one review no matter where it's from when I'm evaluating a product. I read everything I can find.
