[official word]... what happened to "Perfect-Touch" ?

+ The pros here may snicker at this, but I myself was
impressed with the older Kodak "Perfect Touch" processing
services... also, excuse me if this repeats... I myself may
have whined about it here some time ago. Here is the issue.
Kodak offered... at grocery store kiosks, etcetera... a
service called "Perfect Touch"... best thing that ever happened to
amateur photography. Assuming you had an image on the
film, and it wasnt shot directly into the Sun, or at night without
flash, Perfect Touch would give you a... well... almost perfect
print, every time... it was just incredible.
Fast forward to present day... 2007... a visit to the same
kiosks, but the old advertising is gone... still Kodak processing...
and, if you read all the teeny print, you can still find the words
"perfect" and "touch" mentioned together... but... gone is the
automatically adjusted color perfect prints. Thus my question...
whatever happened to Perfect Touch... the real one ?
I can only think of a few reasonable explanations... 1) Kodak
was
purchased by Fuji 2) ownership at Kodak changed... radically 3)
Ive
developed a sudden and irreversible seeing condition, which only takes
effect when viewing Kodak prints. 4). competetion felt so
disadvantaged
by the processing monopoly Perfect Touch was generating, they sued
for unfair business practices and forced Kodak to begin using plebian
photo-processing.
Whatever the reason, Perfect Touch... at least anywhere I
can find a Kodak film processing outlet... is no more. Anyone
at all in on what happened ?
