I have a Canon SD450 5.0mp camera and wanted to know if I will be able
to have some 11x14 or 16x20 prints made from some pictures I plan on
taking. Is 5mp enough to get these size enlargements without too much
distortion? I am not looking for studio quality prints, just pictures
to put on my walls.
maybe (besides what jimmy said) if result would not satisfy you you could
increase number of pixels in graphic program (like paint shop pro-->resize
and you select, say bicubic resample and set to 200 %) - those recalculate
new pixels and in so corrected you don't see those square pixels at big
magnification, so in some way you can "increase" number of pixels. Od course
this is usable if you plan to make some images and period. It's not
convenient to do this day after day.
Scott Kelby describes about the same thing in his PhotoShop Elements
books. I do not know if it is illegal to quote him here, but you can
look under "sizeing" in the index and then go to "Poster sized prints".
Of course this assumes you are using PSE.
