I have a CP990, which I use every day but lost my 128 MB compact flash
card. Does anyone know if I can use something with more capacity,
like a 1 or 2 GB card? Basically, I'm wondering what the maximum card
size can be. Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer.
If it handles 128mb it should handle up to 2gb. Cards greater than 32mb
and less than 4gb are all formatted FAT16 (FAT16 has a theoretical limit
of 4gb - but that is not often implemented). My wife's coolpix 2100
handles 1gb cards.
it probably also applies to the Coolpix 990) is that the number of photos
remaining counter will continue to show a maximum value of 999 until there
are actually less than 999 photos remaining. This reflects actual testing
and use of a SanDisk Ultra II 1.0 GB CompactFlash memory card with the
Coolpix 2100 camera.
All other photo functions should work without any noticeable errors.
I no longer have a Coolpix 2100 camera, though, so I have no test or usage
information for the 2GB cards.
Yes - they only have a three digit counter.
