I own a typical 5mp canon digital camera. When taking a shot, does it
matter if you press the button halfway through before pressing it all
the way or should I press it all the way down in one quick motion? I
know it's a stupid question but I'm a newbie. The manual says when you
press the button halfway, it gives the camera time to focus and when
it's focused you press it all the way down.
My Oly E20 got into a bit of trouble when I let my daughter use daddy's camera to take one of me and my wife. She mashed the button down in one move, not knowing anything about autofocusing cameras. Afterward, the camera was very confused, and the little red light kept blinking as if it were still processing the image. It occurred to me that the half press was for more than just focusing. If you mash it down without letting it prepare for the exposure it doesn't know whether to *** or go blind - it is still trying to figure out what just happened.
Just a theory.
