I just downloaded the RAW update to my P850's EasyShare software

program which can edit RAW/KDC files?
Sorry, but I don't. Someday you'll upgrade though. Only a month
ago I was using Win95. :)
Hello, ASAAR:
No, I plan on defying Microsoft's "planned obsolescence" schemes, as
long as possible. :-) My two, self-built "Dinosaurs R Us" Pentium III
computers (1GHz & 600MHz, respectively) have served me well, with the
former dating all the way back to 2000.
In fact, the 600Mhz one is my backup PC, which I've been forced to use
these past few weeks. It mostly consists of components (e.g., the CPU)
left over from upgrades to my main machine, that has become temporarily
idled, due to an inexplicable software problem [i.e., it can connect to
my dial-up ISP (Concentric), but won't access the Internet].
As to Windows XP & 2000, they don't support some of my older stuff
(such as the Pinnacle/Miro DC30+ MJPEG capture card), and likely never
will. I also hate those OSes' seeming distaste for hardware changes, of
which I make, a bit often.
Did the previous version of your
EasyShare software read Kodak's RAW/KDC files, and if so, does it
still work?
The P850 is my first digicam with RAW capability, and I wasn't even
aware that its bundled, EasyShare installation CD lacks native
RAW-editing functionality; it would've been nice of Kodak, to have
provided a clue. <g>
It doesn't have to be able to edit them, only to save
them to another format, such as TIFF or JPG.
Well, it >does< allow me to edit RAW images as JPEG's, and to save them
as BMP's, TIFF's, or JPEG's. If this is enough control, then why does
additional software need to be downloaded from Kodak?
Some other programs
mentioned by in this newsgroup (which I never downloaded or used),
which may or may not be able to understand the P850's RAW files are:

This tute may help also.

Okay, thanks for the information.
Damn you, Kodak! Is that how you treat your greatest fan and most loyal
customer? ;-)
Ron, is that really you? Have you changed your name?
[ Not that Ron. The other one. <g> ]
Who dat, the infamous, erstwhile IBM "Deathstar" apologist, Ron Reaugh?
(I'm a grizzled veteran of news:comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage.)
Oh, you're referring to Ron Hunter, right? :-P
Cordially,
