Damaged image files

While transferring my digital photos to a new HDD I accidently deleted
some of the directories so loaded the original JPSs to the HDD from
the DVD backup. A few of the files that were ok on the HDD that they
were deleted from and were restored from the DVD are now damaged. I
had backed them up with Nero Buring ROM 6 with verification enabled.
Is there a problem with buring software, or is the problem likely to
be the DVD media? I have another backup of the files that were
converted to TIF but haven't yet checked if those are ok.
