Hi Speed memory Card for a Canon S3 IS

Hi, I'm going to buy a Canon S3 IS camera that be used for taking pictures
of birds in my backyard
and snapshots. I like the 12X optical lens. I want to buy two one
gigabyte memory cards for it. I went to the Sandisk website but didnot see
the S3 IS listed as being checked for compatibility. Which high speed
memory cards should I buy?

Also, besides a case which accessories should I buy? Will the lens take
screw on filters? if so, which filters should I buy?
