I have an Hp/Compaq presario, I have a slideshow for my son's wedding on Photoshop elements. I was just doing some last minute editing and now I can't open it. It says Memory error on a box which on the inside says "out of memory". I tried to go to the files and copying all files and transfering to my laptop but I have lost all photos. I have 512 memory and from what I have read, I don't believe it is actaully a memory problem. I also have 70g of free space on hard drive. I have tried restore, reloading (without uninstalling) elements, nothing seems to work. Any suggestions before buying more memory? My pc has been running a little sluggish at times the last couple of days. Thanks for any help...n
You could try an anti-virus program, and perhaps Ad-Aware and Spybot (assuming it is Microsoft Windows. A few questions: what OS are you running, what else have you got running at the same time, have you recently installed anything? MS Windows allocates a tiny fixed amount of RAM for referencing all running applications (I think 32K total in earlier versions, not 32K each), this is not always released when an application closes resulting in an out of memory error even if you have a few GB. If you have task manager take a look at what is running, and see if it makes sense. You probably have enough memory, more is useful, but since the problem only just started I doubt that it is the solution.
