Go over to <http://www.dpreview.com> and read the in depth reviews--they
give measured startup time and shutter lag for a variety of cameras.

I cannot seem to find shutter lag figures for the dSLRs on that site,
using 20D, 30D, and 5D. All kinds of other speed data, such as start up
time, read times and write times, USB speed, but I've seen nothing on
shutter lag for these. Admittedly, looked chiefly in section 11, where
such data is featured.
