If the pictures really are on a Sony Memory Stick, I'm not at all
surprised that the order might not be the same as when they were
originally saved to the E550's xD card. :)

??? I am using a Fuji camera, not a Sony. I do not have a Sony Memory
Stick.

That's what I thought, so I was surprised when instead of saying
that you had a problem with the order of pictures on a "memory card"
you said instead that you had a problem with the order of pictures
on your "memory stick". I figured that it was a simple typing
error, or you know somebody that has a Sony camera are are familiar
with the term "memory stick". But Memory Sticks are just the name
given to a type of memory card usually used in Sony cameras. Fujis
now almost always us xD cards, but some Fuji cameras allow you to
use both xD and CF cards. As I couldn't tell why you referred to
your camera's memory card as a "memory stick" I thought it would be
best to mention it. No problem though.

If I'm mistaken, sorry, but it appears that you're not very
familiar with the way your version of Windows operates. When
pictures are copied to the hard drive, they're not copied in any
particular order, just to the first available location on the hard
drive as determined by Window's File System. But the order that
results (at least in my version of Windows) doesn't matter and you
probably won't get to see this particular order. The order that you
*will* see the pictures in is determined by the Windows app.,
program, or builtin Windows function that you're using to view the
programs. There should be a default sort order, but in almost all
cases you can change this sort order to whatever order you prefer.

You can sort by the picture's name, by its date, by its file size
or by its file type. However you change it, that usually becomes
the new default sorting order. But how this order is changed
depends on how the program requires it to be done. One other
possibility is that the sort order may be determined not by a
program, but by a property of the Windows Folder that the pictures
are contained in. In this case you'd have to know how to change the
folder's sort property. In my version of Windows (much older than
yours) the folder has a menu, and one of the options is View.
Clicking on the word "View" pops up a submenu that shows a number of
things that can be changed. First is how the contents of the folder
are displayed. The possibilities are Large Icons, Small Icons, List
and Details. The latter two non-icon views might be more useful if
you prefer dealing with files sorted by their names. Below these
options is a menu option titled "Arrange Icons". This is where you
get the chance to change the way files are sorted. You can choose
to sort the files by Name, Type, Size or Date. One last bit. If
the folders are viewed in one of the two icon views, there's an
additional "Arrange" option called "Auto Arrange". This is somewhat
like an unsorted order, because if "Auto Arrange is turned off, you
can drag icons around to any position in the folder using your mouse
and they'll stay where you left them. Hope this info. isn't too
little or too much, but (as Goldilocks might say) just right. :)
