That's the new GPS tracking device the NSA has required Canon to
include in all their new models. If you take a photo of a bridge, a
subway, a defense installation, or the Brangelina baby the camera
sends a signal to them immediately.
I think it can be over-ridden with a firmware hack, however.
What like a hammer or something????!
