I want to take the .avi movie files from my digital camera, burn them
onto a DVD and play the DVD in a standard DVD player. Is this
possible? I can't seem to find a straight forward answer and it's
driving me crazy! Thanks so much.

As someone else said in this forum, camcorders take better movies than
digital cameras with movie capability, and digital cameras take better
stills than camcorders with still capability. If you really want to make good
DVDs, get a good mini DV camcorder (the local germanos chain store-
www.germanos.gr has the sony DCR-HC17-E for just 340 euros, carl zeiss
lens, 800 k pixel etc etc an 60 min mini DV cassete cost just 3 euros and
even supermarkets sell them, and you will be making much better DVDs than
the crappy 640X480 @ 30 fps that even the best still camera can take.
