I was the top bidder 4 separate times on Nikon lenses. Each time someone
outbid me at the last second by 2 dollars. Obviously they have either
paid
someone to bid for them who has a computer program to do this or they
have
such a program themselves. There is no way that a legitimate bidder
could
come in at the last possible second and win without such a program. My
point is that ebay must know that this is going on and so the whole
auction
is dishonest and rigged. I think that ebay could weed out programed
bids
if they really wanted to. I will no longer attempt to bid on anything
on
ebay.

Never bid early on an item. If the item is up for 7 days place it in the
watching section and wait. You'll notice the newbies and people who don't
understand the workings of ebay bidding against each other again and
again.
All these people do is up the final price of the item. If the bidding is
consistent in the last hour or so wait until about 20 sec remain and place
the highest bid you are willing to pay. Others will either not have enough
time to replace a bid or they will have you outbid. There are more items
on
ebay than you'll ever need. Try until you get what you want. Sniping is a
normal occurance on ebay and the only way to beat the snipers is to join
them.

You know, if you bid the highest amount you're willing to bid in the
*first* minute of an auctuion, only those who are willing to pay more
than you are will outbid you.
This seems to be lost on many people.
Sniping inoirder to get the item at a lower time is frustrating, and
hit-or-miss. Ask snipers. With sniping software available, the
hand-snipers are SOL.
It's an auction. Bid your highest amount up-front. If someone outbids
you, don't worry, as they only bid more than you were willing to
spend. Where's the loss?

By bidding a high bid at the beginning you are raising the price of the
auction to a much higher level than it probably would have gone. Yes this is
bad for the seller but that's what reserves are for.
The item will go higher if the bids com in early
I always wait for the last minute to bid on the items I want and I don't use
any programs to do so. I usually get the item I bid on.

I'm glad for you.
If you had simply bid what was the highest amount you were willing to
spend in the first place, you wouldn't need to be present on the
computer to have your bidding done.
And, so you think you're the *last* sniper? I've tried that, and it
seldom works. Most snipers I know have discovered that a snipe must
still be high enough to outbid other snipers; self-defeating.
I realize that *for you*, this can work well. But to even hint that
it's a valid method for everyone else is just wrong.
Snipe away. It doesn't bother me at all. I either win or lose. In
either case, I don't overspend, and there are always other auctions.
