It's an auction.
They won.
You didn't.
That's how auctions work.
This type of eBay 'sniping' is fairly common - in fact there's really no
point in bidding till the last moment as it only ramps up the price and
shows your hand to other bidders.
There are programmes to do this (autobid/sniping) but I have to say I just
use a stopwatch/countdown timer and bid at the last moment.
This does not mean the auctions are either dishonest or rigged.
Keep trying and you will prevail ;-)

I was the top bidder 4 separate times on Nikon lenses. Each time someone
outbid me at the last second by 2 dollars. Obviously they have either
paid
someone to bid for them who has a computer program to do this or they have
such a program themselves. There is no way that a legitimate bidder could
come in at the last possible second and win without such a program. My
point is that ebay must know that this is going on and so the whole
auction
is dishonest and rigged. I think that ebay could weed out programed bids
if they really wanted to. I will no longer attempt to bid on anything on
ebay.
