I just attempted to copy the SD card from my Lumix FZ30 to my 4th Gen
40GB iPod (v3.1.1) with a Belkin Media Reader. It was rejected as 'no
card installed'. (It's possible the BMR was faulty as the CF card from
an old Canon A40 froze the iPod.)

I returned it to the retailer and replaced it with an Apple Camera
Connector, but alas, it is only compatible with 5th Gen Photo iPods.
(thanks a heap, Steve)

Has anyone successfully cleared their FZ30 into a 4thGen iPod? At a
conservative estimate my forthcoming holiday in Europe is going to cost
me NZ$850 (US$530) in SD cards and it pisses me off to think there is
30GB of space available on the iPod. In theory.

The Belkin Digital Camera Link is a possibility, but the FZ30 is not
mentioned on the Compatible Cameras list, altho i(Pod)Lounge observe
that many cameras not on the list (yet) still work.

Don't spend $850 on cards; spend less than half of it on an image
tank. I think a 20 or 30 GB tank can be had for less than $400, and
leave the iPod for the music it was designed for.

I think you are in NZ from your header, so try
http://www.flashcards.co.nz A Christchurch firm, very good prices, fast
delivery, I have used them several times, including for an image tank.
Mine is a Vosonic 40 GB, reads all cards, displays jpeg images. I have
only two 512MB cards for my 300D, and the Vosonic reads and stores the
images with no problems.

A cheaper still alternative is to find an internet cafe, they will
generally burn your images to a CD for you.

I know, at least here,in Iraklion, every lab doing digital printing can burn
a cd for you.An image tank can be had, I think for only 100 euros.

OK, Tzortzakakis, Yes, digital labs will do it, but I think they charge
more than cafes do. 100 euros is $193 NZ, by todays rates, and that is
cheaper than we can buy here. Isolation and low population numbers
probably don't help.
