Ah, the 75 dpi thing again. Digital images are made from pixels and
do not have a physical size until displayed or printed. The size they
get when displayed (or printed) depends on the resolution of the
output device. A typical computer monitor has about 90 dots per inch,
so if you display the image at full size the displayed width will be
the number of pixels across the imaged divided by 90 inches. For most
images, this will be much wider than the actual monitor, so you need
to scroll or scale it down.
Unless you are printing images, always ignore anything that talks
about inches, dpi, or similar things. Work in pixels, that's what
images are made of.
Why, oh why, does the JPEG format have a dpi field?
