year, cradle next to the computer, and never an issue.
getting tangled up in things is a nuisance. You could put it in a
pouch or something but that increases the pack space needed.
Wow, I have tons of wires and no longer now the entanglement problem. I
used to have this hassle with the wires till I "solved" it. The
Hmm, when traveling I store the various chargers in zip lock bags. In fact I put about everything in zip lock bags of one size or another. I guess I haven't been able to experience the horrible cord tangling problem either, but I am pretty good about wire management.
Of course you really don't have much of choice to take your cell phone or notebook computer charger with you, when traveling. And any NiMH charger that can operate off of both AC and a car cigarette lighter also has a cord. In fact the very small Li-Ion wall plug chargers simplify your life. You can charge all your batteries simultaneously at night, rather than fumbling with a load of individual AA cells.
Haha. You like lights too! So do I. This explains the AA/AAA batteries
addiction. I love the LED ones. I'm an LED light addict. I particularly
liked the petzl headlights.
My favorite flashlight these days is the Streamlight Strion. Extremely powerful, small, and well made. Uses a Li-Ion rechargeable battery. It doubles as a bicycle light. IMVAIO, flashlights are the last thing you want to use NiMH batteries in, you can rest assured that when you need to use it, the batteries will have self-discharged to the point that the run-time is very low. I like the Petzel headlamp too, it's amazingly useful when you want both hands free. I don't really like the LED flashlights because you lose the spot/flood adjustability that's present on Mag-Light type flashlights. I do have several combo flashlights from Streamlight (Twin-Task product line), that have both LEDs, and a xenon bulb with an adjustable beam. I have the 3AA model, the 3C model, and the 1 cell lithium, that uses a disposable lithium battery. The battery life is very long on the latter, and it's very convenient to take along traveling because it's so small. The local Fry's often has the Twin-Task models on sale for a lot less than what on-line retailers charge.
I'm really tempted to change cameras these days but I find it hard.
There's no camera on the market that seems a justified replacement for
the F810 right now.
We're seeing the market go in two directions, the high end is moving to the smaller, and lower priced D-SLRs, and the low end is moving to whatever's cheapest. Occasionally there is some niche product like the Sony DSC-R1, which has a larger sensor to reduce noise. It's too bad about the Panasonic FZ-30 and it's noise issues.
> I could get a Canon A610 for AA batteries and SD
card but I'd be losing out on RAW, sensor noise, and overall picture
quality and paying an extra expense for a new camera. I could go with
the F10, F11 or F30 for high iso but I'd lose RAW again and full manual
controls. I could go with the E900 for a little more resolution and AA
batteries but I'd be losing out on AF-assist light.
I can't believe that they left off the AF-assist light, it's one of the most important considerations in a new camera. At least Canon included it on the S2 and S3, after leaving it off the S1.
I have no intention
of getting a D-SLR; I have no need for interchangeable lenses and I
can't justify the extra expense.
The interchangeable lenses are actually a minor advantage for many people. It's the low noise, and the lack of shutter lag that really makes the D-SLR useful
Combine a Nikon D50 with the 18-200 DX VR Lens, and never take the lens off. It'd be nice to see a $1000 SLR with a non-interchangeable lens with these features, but then people would be complaining, "how much would it have cost them to make it interchangeable."
