Yes. We distinguish them by referring to the ones with a mirror and an optical viewfinder and interchangeable lenses and large sensors as "DSLRs".SLR = Single Lens Reflex.
DSLR = Digital Single Lens Reflex.
Tradition (from film cameras) has it that lenses
are interchangeable. But this isn't implied by
either of the acronyms above. Nor does either
term imply "large sensor."
There were film SLRs (eg., Kodak Retina)
with fixed lenses.
There are digital SLRs with fixed zoom lenses,
such as the Olympus E-10.
Having lived through the NG creation process, I still think of DSLRs as only those with interchangeable lenses. No offense to Oly, Sony etc. or anyone who owns or favors the high end fixed lens solutions.
