Too many DSLRs?

Now that dSLRs are a hot commodity, many previously non SLR makers are
joining the game. Good is that it will keep the players advancing with newer
features and models at lower prices. Bad is that it can eventually saturate
the market, producing no profits or losses for some companies. I would think
the Professional or educated consumer will stay with the well established
brands like Nikon, Canon or Pentax that have a good selection of lenses.
I doubt it will happen, but I do fear the peripheral players could take away
from Canon and Nikon, possibly hurting their ability to innovate.Anyway, it
will be interesting to watch.
