Seems to me that I recall running into pictures directly out
of a camera that displayed the "Owner name". Does anybody know of
software that will allow me to program my camera(s) with this
information so that it will be recorded with each picture I take with
it?
When I used Canon's ZoomBrowser software a long, long time ago
(Powershot S10 connected to computer via serial port) it may have
allowed me to store my name into the camera.
Other useful fields to be able to program into the camera if
possible would be:
Artist, Copyright, Miscellaneous & Maker note!
I think you'll have to wait for Canon or some other manufacturer
to produce a new camera that runs a portable version of Windows and
comes complete with a mouse and keyboard connector. Or maybe HP or
Sony will produce a laptop with a built-in camera. Until then, if
you want those data fields, you'd be advised to look for computer
software that adds them, as I doubt that they'll ever find their way
into a camera.
Thanks for the information, maybe I will install the software
& look for that capability. Looked quickly through the pdf software
manual & did not find it but it could be an undocumented feature, so
it's likely worth the effort to try it.
Hopefully other's have come across this & will also reply.
Again thanks for the suggestion, "Owner name" field alone
would be worth it to me but was hoping some of the other fields could
be reprogrammed also. Please note that I did not expect to be able to
do this without connecting the camera to a PC, but I do need to know
what software will do it, if any will.
Yes, the zoom browser will store the owner's name in the camera and it will
be displayed in the the EXIF data. It is not easy to find, especially on
the non-english versions but it is there (I don't remember the sequence). I
did it for my 10D and my G6 and also my daughter's 10D.

Jean,
Thanks for responding, I'll install Zoom Browser &
hunt down this feature within it. This 1 feature seems like such a
good idea that 1 wonders why it's not documented. This might be
useful if the camera is stolen or in case a family or business owns 2
or more of the same camera, they will easily be able to know which
camera took any given picture.
Thanks again. Hopefully some 3rd party software exists that
easily allows 1 to change some of the other fields within the
camera(s).
PSRemote from Breeze Systems works with several Canon digital
cameras for remote control that's adds more features than Canon's
provided remote control software, so hopefully a software company like
this 1 might see the usefulness & of such features.
Thanks again to you & all others who did or might yet reply!
