Why would one leave empty folders on their card to begin with? When I
move my images from the cf card to a folder on my computer there's no
empty folders left on the card. Why format?
All my CFs are only formatted once and that was when I first pulled them out
of the packaging. Maybe we all need to start reformatting our computer HDs
every time we turn our computers on? It's time for the Mythbusters!!!
Cameras do not contain advanced operating systems. They do not clean
up outdated folders. Formatting periodically is not a bad thing to
do. With my Canon dSLR "formatting" just writes new volume
information to the card and takes very little time, so that's what I
do instead of erasing.
