Even tall people need to be to hold the camera over a crowd to get a
clear shot sometimes :-)

Olympus have "side-stepped" around this problem for the full-time live
(mode 1) preview by using a secondary CCD sensor inside the viewfinder
(not the main sensor, which is behind the reflex mirror and shutter
during "mode 1" preview).

That is basicaly how Oly implemented "macro mode" (mode 2) live preview
in their E-330, except the reflex mirror and focal plane shutter reset
(not a leaf shutter like a P&S).
According to the hands-on preview at dpreview.com, it takes a whole
second from button press to shutter firing in "mode 2" live preview.
