I just wrote a few lines of unix shell scrips to index my files at home.
I have 144,089 image files online. My database strategy is
detailed at:

A search of the database on a 1.8 GHz PC takes less than a second.
For example my command "findimage family" returns
17,426 images. Example: "findimage alaska eagle" finds
695 entries, whereas "findimage eagle" finds 1558 images.

It took 1.25 hours to build the database of 144,089 images on 2 300 GBytes disk drives, on my 1.8 GHz windows xp machine. It is probably long due to the inefficiency of the unix find and exec commands on xp.
