Look...the question is "Can my camera setting be changed?" What I'm
hoping for is a Sony DSC-585 user that reads this and supplies the
answer. The answer doesn't seem to be in the manual.

I *have* done my homework on resolution, and posted a link on this.

I don't use a card reader because I don't like handling the cards that
much. I know there's disagreement there, but I'm more comfortable not
doing this.

I never re-size images. Instead, I use the crop tool in Adobe
Photoshop 7 and set the crop to 4" x 6" or 6" x 4" at 180 ppi. The
selection made that way is a picture that is better composed and
sharper. If I'm posting the result to the web, I'll "select all" from
the reduced size and change the resolution to 100 ppi and "save as" so
it loads faster on the web. Normally, though, I print the result.

When I do print at 5" x7" or 8" x 10" the same steps above are used.
When I prepare for the web I sometimes use pixel dimensions instead of
inches. For example, 700 px x 400 px gives a nice web size.

I also save in .psd format so an image can be worked on several times
without loss. I may print it in .jpg form, they are saved in .psd.

I know people in newsgroups like to take off on tangents, but please
just look at the actual question. If you can answer it, please do.
