Whatever anyone says is their MP requirement for 24x36" prints, some twit
will come along claiming to have made a "tack sharp" print from a fraction
of that number. And it's not just digerati: I've been to galleries showing
20x30" prints from 35mm that were mush from whatever distance you viewed
them.
Personally, I wouldn't print 6x7 over 16x20, and wouldn't print 16MP over
13x19.

If the image is important to you or graphically striking, you'll probably be
happy with it no matter how many MP it starts as.
