I thought the problem related in the main to wide lenses - eg around 14-21mm?
Not if one suggests it being much different between "full frame CMOS and non-DSLR". It is lens design related, some lenses create more light fall-off than others, and all improve with smaller than full aperture.
50mm isn't really a wide lens I think.
The exit pupil of the EF 50mm f/1.4 is rather wide in comparison to some others. So if it isn't a real problem with that lens, it is unlikely to be a problem with other lenses, especially stopped down.
