The newer Vosonic devices are probably close to what you want but do not
have the AA batteries, they do have a 12v adapter to use in a car though as
well as the normal AC adaptor. I have a 3310 and know several people that
use the same and know a few people that have the 6230 and they seem to do
the job quite well at a reasonable price.
You could of course make an external box and put some "C" or "AA" cells or
similar in the box, would not take much work.
