Hi there.

Mains powered Smoke Detectors are perfectly safe, unless there is a power
outage, which is why they have back up batteries.
That is when people start using Candles, and increase the risk of Fire.

They are Smoke Detectors, not Fire or Heat Detectors, and will sound the
Alarm long before any fire is anywhere near bad enough to damage their power
circuits.

If you have a dog, and if you want to sleep at night, you had better keep a
supply of Smoke Alarm batteries handy. Mine goes nuts when the battery
warning starts.
